Founded
in 1999, the UCLA Xi Omicron Chapter of Delta Sigma
Pi guides and shapes students of UCLA into strong future
business leaders.
As the premier
business fraternity, we are not only dedicated to
business, but also to community service events, social
events, and other extracurricular activities. Yet,
serving not just as event strategists or attendees,
the 50+ brothers comprising the Xi Omicron Chapter
are some of the most highly motivated students. The
members of the fraternity are both outstanding individuals
and strong team players.
Each
year, we draw in numerous students to our professional
events and workshops. Implemented to further their
knowledge of the business world, these events help
provide the tools in developing prospective careers.
If you think we're all about
business, then think again. We are also heavily
involved in community service, athletics, scholarship,
and social activities. The following are just
a few of our chapter's highlights from last year:
Etiquette Dinner- an annual
night of etiquette lessons, dance instruction
(ballroom, swing or salsa) and fine food (and
recently, wine tasting). On most years, it is
held as an in-house event for brothers. In 2004
it was opened up to the whole campus with a total
of around 200 attendees and guests like actor
Parry Shen (from Better Luck Tomorrow) and news
anchor Ted Chen.
Children’s Festival/Easter
Egg Hunt- our biggest community service event,
DSP hosts an afternoon of games, food and crafts
with children from the community. We are sometimes
joined by other organizations like APhiO in helping
put on this event.
DSP/PhiDE Clubbing Event
- in an effort to establish ties with other UCLA
organizations, Xi Omicron collaberated with the
pre-med fraternity, Phi Delta Epsilon, to put
on a clubbing event in the heart of Los Angeles.
A fun night of mingling and dancing was enjoyed
by all.
Speaker Series- our professional
team invites speakers from various industries
to come and speak to the campus community about
their respective career experiences and offer
advice.
Trick-or-Can- on Halloween
night, the brothers of Xi Omicron put on their
Halloween costumes to go trick-or-treating in
a neighborhood in Santa Monica. However, instead
of candy, we ask for cans, which we donate to
the local PATH Shelter.
Sharkfest- the biggest annual
gathering of local chapters in the South Pacific
Region, Sharkfest is a day of athletics, games,
and overall friendly competition between the chapters.
Xi Omicron is always heavily involved in its planning
and execution, as well as the proud co-winner
of last year’s trophy.
As a unified framework,
we envision tremendous opportunities in the years
ahead for the Xi Omicron Chapter in constructing
America’s most prominent business leaders. By
continually enriching and steering one another
in becoming successful, we not only evolve as
powerfully driven entities but also embrace the
true meaning of brotherhood.
